KaHuna & the work
What is KaHuna massage?
KaHuna is a beautiful, flowing style of Hawaiian-inspired bodywork that works with the whole body rather than treating one area in isolation.
Using long, rhythmic movements with the hands, forearms and elbows, the treatment encourages the body to soften, release tension and return to a deeper state of relaxation.
For Bryony, KaHuna is so much more than massage. It is an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with the body and create space for whatever may be carried physically, mentally or emotionally.
No two treatments are ever exactly the same. Bryony meets each person where they are on the day and allows the session to unfold intuitively around what their body needs.
How is KaHuna different from a regular massage?
Traditional massage often focuses on individual muscles, areas of tension or specific techniques. KaHuna works with the body as a whole — the physical body, the energetic body and the spiritual body.
The movements are long, continuous and flowing, often travelling from one part of the body to another rather than stopping and starting. This creates a deeply nurturing and immersive experience and can help move the body out of a busy, stimulated state and into deeper relaxation and connection.
For anyone who already loves massage but feels they are looking for something deeper, KaHuna can be a beautiful experience.
What is energy healing?
Energy healing is a gentle practice designed to support relaxation, balance and a deeper connection with self.
Bryony works intuitively with the body and energetic field, incorporating elements of Reiki and different healing modalities she has studied, practised and experienced over the years.
No particular spiritual beliefs are needed to receive energy healing. Some people experience warmth, tingling, emotion, imagery or a sense of spaciousness. Others simply experience profound relaxation.
There is no “right” way to experience it.
What is sound healing?
Sound healing uses vibration, frequency and resonance to support deep relaxation and create space for the body and mind to soften.
Bryony may incorporate instruments and therapeutic sound frequencies intuitively throughout a treatment, allowing sound to complement bodywork, energy healing and moments of stillness.
Some clients describe feeling deeply grounded, spacious or meditative during sound healing. Others notice subtle physical sensations or simply enjoy the feeling of being completely immersed in sound.
There is nothing you need to do other than relax and receive.
Can KaHuna, energy healing and sound healing be combined?
Yes — and this is one of Bryony’s favourite ways to work.
Bodywork can help soften and release the physical body, while energy healing and sound create space for a quieter and more subtle layer of the experience. These modalities are woven together intuitively rather than treated as completely separate experiences.
Longer sessions allow more time to slow down, settle the nervous system and work with the whole person without rushing from one area or modality to another.
Is KaHuna massage suitable for men and women?
Yes. Bryony welcomes clients of all genders who are seeking professional, respectful and intentional bodywork.
Every treatment is held with clear professional boundaries, consent and care.
Do I need to be spiritual to book?
Absolutely not.
Someone may come because their shoulders hurt. They may come because they are exhausted. They may be curious about energy work, moving through a significant chapter of life, craving intentional touch and human connection, or simply wanting an incredible massage.
There is space for all of it. Bryony’s work can be deeply holistic, while always remaining grounded in meeting the person in front of her exactly where they are.
Your first visit
Do I need to have experienced KaHuna before?
Not at all. Many clients come to Bryony for their very first KaHuna treatment.
Everything will be explained beforehand, and there is always space to ask questions, communicate preferences and share what feels comfortable.
There is nothing to “do” or perform. Simply arrive as you are.
What should I expect during my first treatment?
Each session begins with a conversation about how the body is feeling, what has been happening in life, any areas of tension or injury, and what you would like to receive from the treatment.
From there, there is space to simply settle onto the massage table and receive. A session may incorporate flowing KaHuna and Lomi Lomi bodywork, intentional touch, breath, energy healing, sound healing and moments of stillness, depending on the treatment chosen and what feels supportive on the day.
There is never any expectation for an experience to look or feel a certain way. Some people feel deeply relaxed. Some fall asleep. Some experience an emotional release. Others simply leave feeling lighter, softer and more at home in their body.
All of it is welcome.
What should I wear?
KaHuna traditionally uses flowing movements across larger areas of the body, so the draping is slightly different from some other styles of massage. Underwear can be worn, and the body is covered with a modesty towel and a sarong at all times.
Comfort and consent are always the priority. Before the treatment, Bryony will explain how the session works and what level of undress and draping is appropriate. You are always given privacy to change, and intimate areas remain appropriately covered throughout the treatment.
If there is anything you would prefer not to have worked on, this can be communicated at any time.
Can I ask for certain areas to be avoided, or focused on?
Absolutely. Each treatment belongs to the person receiving it.
Before the session begins, Bryony will discuss any injuries, sensitivities, areas needing additional attention and anywhere you would prefer not to be touched.
You are also welcome to change your mind or communicate at any point throughout the treatment.
Can I talk during my treatment?
Of course — although many people find they naturally become quiet once the treatment begins.
There is no pressure to make conversation. Bryony intentionally creates space for you to switch off, turn inward and receive.
If anything needs to be communicated about pressure, temperature, positioning or comfort, you are always encouraged to speak up.
What might I feel after a treatment?
Every body responds differently. Some clients leave feeling deeply relaxed, grounded or beautifully spacious. Others may feel energised, emotional, sleepy or simply lighter in themselves.
Where possible, it can be beautiful to leave a little breathing room after a treatment rather than racing immediately into the next thing. Drinking water, eating something nourishing and allowing the experience to settle all help support the transition back into the day.
Simply notice what the body needs.
Booking & practical
Which treatment length should I choose?
One hour is beautiful for anyone short on time, returning regularly or wanting more focused bodywork.
Ninety minutes allows space for a fuller whole-body experience and deeper relaxation. It is also a beautiful introduction to KaHuna.
Two hours offers a spacious, immersive treatment with time to truly arrive, soften and receive. It allows Bryony to work more slowly across the whole body and weave in complementary elements such as energy healing or sound.
Three hours is the most expansive and immersive treatment experience — a complete holistic ritual of bodywork, energy healing, sound, stillness and deep rest. There is time for the body to gradually unwind without being rushed, for different areas to receive focused attention, and for the treatment to unfold intuitively according to what is needed on the day. It is particularly beautiful for those craving deep restoration, moving through a significant life chapter, feeling physically or emotionally depleted, or simply wanting to dedicate a generous amount of time entirely to themselves.
For a first KaHuna experience, ninety minutes or two hours is generally recommended where time allows, as it gives the nervous system space to settle and the body time to soften without feeling rushed.
How often should I have a treatment?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Some clients return regularly as part of their wellbeing practice, while others book when their body is asking for rest, when life feels particularly full, or when they simply feel called to return.
If you are experiencing ongoing physical tension or moving through a particularly demanding season, more regular treatments may feel supportive.
The body is often much wiser than the calendar.

Beyond the treatment table
What is a cacao & sound healing ceremony?
Bryony’s cacao and sound healing ceremonies are immersive group experiences created to offer space to slow down, reconnect and move inward.
Ceremonies may weave together ceremonial cacao, guided meditation, intention setting, gentle breathwork, sound healing, energy work and moments of stillness. Rather than needing to achieve anything, participants are invited to simply arrive as they are and allow the experience to unfold in their own way.
Some people experience deep relaxation, clarity, emotion or a renewed sense of connection. Others simply enjoy having intentional space away from the noise and pace of everyday life. Each ceremony is held with care and may vary depending on the theme, location and energy of the gathering.
Upcoming ceremonies are shared through the website and Bryony’s social media. See ceremonies
Does Bryony offer guided meditations?
Yes. Bryony creates guided meditations designed to support relaxation, sleep, grounding, nervous system rest and deeper connection with self.
Her meditations weave together gentle guidance, visualisation, breath, mindfulness and elements of sound healing to create a space where listeners can slow down and turn inward. They can be listened to from home whenever a little more stillness, softness or space is needed.
What are the ways to experience this work?
Private treatments include KaHuna massage, Lomi Lomi bodywork, energy healing, sound healing and longer holistic healing experiences. Bryony also facilitates cacao and sound healing ceremonies, and creates guided meditations that can be listened to at home.
Whether receiving hands-on bodywork, resting within sound, joining a ceremony or listening to a meditation from home, the intention remains the same — a return to yourself.
