Booking your first KaHuna massage usually comes with a small flurry of questions you might feel silly asking. You are not silly — everyone wonders. Here is exactly how it goes.
Before you arrive
There is nothing to prepare. Come as you are — from work, from the beach, from a hard week. If you can, leave a little buffer on either side of your session rather than racing in and racing out; the slowness works better when it has room. Skip the big meal right before, and drink some water during the day.
When you arrive
My treatment space is at Unit 4, 311 Golden Four Drive in Bilinga, a few steps from the beach. We sit down and talk first — never rushed. I will ask how your body is travelling, whether anything needs extra care or should be left out entirely, and what kind of pressure feels good to you. This conversation is where the session really begins: you set the boundaries, and they hold all the way through.
What about clothing?
You undress to your comfort level in private — most people keep their underwear on — and you are covered with a sarong or towel the whole time. Only the area being worked on is ever uncovered, and intimate areas are never part of the work, ever. This is called draping, and it is not an awkward formality; it is how the whole session stays warm, safe and easeful. If you would rather stay more clothed, that is completely fine too — the work adapts.
During the session
KaHuna is long, flowing, rhythmic bodywork — strokes that travel the length of the body, often with the forearms, in a rhythm that feels closer to a tide than a technique. Warm oil, unhurried pace. You do not need to help, hold anything, or make conversation. If you want to say something — more pressure, less, a blanket, a pause — say it any time. Otherwise, your only job is to let yourself be moved.
Depending on the session you have chosen, I may weave in energy work and sound — crystal bowls, tuning forks — especially towards the end, when your body is at its most settled. You can read about the different sessions here.
Afterwards
Take your time getting up; there is no rush out the door. People float out feeling all sorts of ways — lighter, softer, a little dreamy, occasionally emotional. All of it is welcome and all of it is normal. Be kind to yourself for the rest of the day: water, gentle food, an early night if you can manage it. The session keeps working long after your feet find your shoes.
The questions everyone asks
Will it hurt? No. This is not a no-pain-no-gain style. Pressure stays inside what feels good, and you can change it with a word.
What if I fall asleep? Wonderful. That is your nervous system accepting the invitation.
What if I get emotional? Then you are human. Tears sometimes come when the body finally softens. Nothing is expected of you and nothing needs explaining.
How long should my first session be? Most first-timers choose ninety minutes or two hours. If you are curious about the full journey, the three-hour Multidimensional Healing is the deep end — and it is a beautiful deep end.
How often should I book in for a session?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer — your body will always be your greatest guide.
The more regular your treatments are the better you feel.
Many of my clients begin with weekly or fortnightly sessions before naturally moving to monthly treatments. We can always decide together what rhythm feels most supportive for you and what you're currently moving through.
Once you're feeling more balanced and where you'd like to be, a monthly treatment is a beautiful way to maintain that connection and care for your body, energy and nervous system.
If there is something particular you're working on or moving through — ongoing tension, stress, trauma or emotional blockages — regular treatments will support your body and your healing journey in the most beneficial way.
When you are ready, book your first session here. Come with questions, come nervous, come tired. Every one of those is a perfectly good way to arrive.
Sending so much love,
Bryony 💗
