Awakened Life School of Yoga
By Bryony Wildfire
The Awakened Life School of Yoga – Recharge Retreats opened my eyes, mind and heart like I never imagined was possible. I learnt about Yoga about myself and most importantly I learnt how to relax and appreciate the small things and how important it is to live in the present moment.
This experience in many ways changed me as a person and my perspective and outlook on life.
Recharge with a holiday whilst gaining a new skill and qualification
Spend 21 days in Chandidasa, Bali on a beautiful resort on the beachfront whilst completing an internationally recognised YTT 200hr Yoga Teacher Training. Accommodation and majority of the meals provided with excursions and graduation celebrations.
Personal Transformation
You can never expect or predict exactly what will happen during Yoga Teacher Training.
Every bodies experience was different but one thing was common, everyone experienced some kind of personal transformation, grew as an individual and discovered something about them.
It was both a physical and mental spiritual journey that took place during the course.
Yoga is a way of life
Yoga is different for everyone and is a personal practice between your mind and body. Yoga has been around for generations and symbolizes a physical, mental and spiritual practice that aims to transform body and mind. Yoga is a way of life. It’s not something you rush or squeeze into your day but its something you make time for and grow with. The course focused on working with your mind, gratitude and healing.
Meet new people from all over the world
I made friends all ages and from all over the world. Not only did I make incredible friendships I left feeling like I belonged to a new family. Each and every person came from a different part of the world on their own journey with their own dreams and goals. It was truly amazing to be a part of such a culturally diverse group of people.
Friendships and bonds were made that were stronger than most of the friendships I’ve had.
Bali opened my eyes to a completely different way of living.
A typical day looked something like this…
5:30am – Rise
6:00am – Tea and fruit
6:30am-7:30am – Group Meditation
7:45am-9:45am - Vinyasa Flow Yoga
10:00am-11:30am – Buffet Breakfast
11:30am – 1:30pm- Class time
1:30pm -3pm – Lunch
3:00pm – 5:00pm – Class Time
5:30 – 7:30pm – Seminar, Restorative Yoga, Free Time.
Practice Silence
It was a part of our course to practice silence and meditation every morning. I would wake up and sit overlooking the ocean with a cup of green tea and felt at peace. It occurred to me at this point how much I miss out on life when I am constantly on the go and how important it is to just ‘be’ in the present moment. This was a time when all senses were heightened. Silence allows you to hear and listen.
Have a break from technology
Social media, text messages, phone calls. Technology is overcoming our lives and it wasn’t until having a technology detox I realized how consumed with my phone I was. It was a nice break to be able to detach from my phone and technology. This freed up so much time to actually spend getting to know people and really listening.
A journey of self-discovery
Chris Sabito and Liz Carey who own the school have many years experience in mentoring and life coaching and I felt this is what made this Yoga Teacher Training so unique and stood out from other Teacher Trainings.
I remember Chris quoting at the beginning of the course,
“You can’t teach yoga until you know who you are,
It is about finding yourself from within”.
We soon entered the theory and practical side of the yoga course. At times it was tough but I was surprised how well such a large group of people worked together, supported and helped each other in times of need. I began to feel confident in remembering sanscript names of the poses and felt really happy and grateful to be there, in Bali. We worked through exams and pop quizzes and then was left with one final practical assessment.
This was to design and instruct your very own yoga class. We had lots of practice instructing the sun salutations (warm up sequence), during the morning sessions so the final practical was to ensure we understood the flow and movements of yoga and was confident in instructing a class.
To be honest, taking my first yoga class made my voice shake and my palms sweat. I was so nervous to get up in front of a full class in the Yoga Bale and in front all my teachers and teach. I had read over my notes a thousand times and gone over it a million more times in my mind the night before. I remember taking a big deep breath and begun teaching. Words flew from my tongue without me really having to think as I watched people’s bodies gracefully moved to my teaching. In this moment I experienced feelings of excitement and felt so proud of myself. I finished the yoga with a five minute savasana (Dead corpse pose), where everybody in the room closed their eyes and completely relaxed.
The room was still and I sat at the front of everyone during their deep relaxation smiling. The feeling was indescribable.
Everyone graduated as Yoga Teachers and a traditional graduation celebration was put on for us with lots of food, singing and dancing. We received our certificates and all came together one last night before everyone went on their separate ways. It was a truly magical journey and I met some of the most incredible people that will remain significantly special in my life.
You can not put a price on happiness and during this yoga teacher training I felt levels of happiness I had never experienced in my life. I am truly grateful for Liz and Chris for providing such a wonderful course aiming to better individuals and teach such important life lessons that we can now take on and teach the rest of the world.
One person at a time, one step at a time, we can change the world.
7 Rules of Life
Make peace with your past so it wont screw up your present. What others think of you is none of your business.Time heals almost anything, give it time.Don’t compare your life to others and don’t judge them. You have no idea what their journey is all about.Stop thinking too much, its alright to not know the answers. They will come to you when you least expect it.No one is in charge of your own happiness, except you.Smile. You don’t own all the problems in the world.
